If you are not satisfied with the current color of the elytra that you are using, or you simply want to freshen them up a little, then it probably makes sense to turn your attention to a modification such as Customizable Elytra, which is designed for exactly this in Minecraft version 1.16.4.

After successfully downloading and further installing this mod, you can easily either simply change the color using various combinations of existing dyes, or do more complex things, for example, apply drawings.

How to install the modification:

First step: Download and install Fabric and Fabric API.

Second step: download the mod file.

Third step: copy the Customizable Elytra mod package to the .minecraft/mods section (if this folder does not exist, install Forge again or create it yourself).
